The Discipline Committee holds hearings regarding allegations of professional misconduct or incompetence concerning a Member which have been referred to the Discipline Committee by the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee. In order for a referral to occur, the allegations must be of a serious nature and the prospect of a finding of guilt must be reasonably good (i.e., there is sufficient evidence available).
During a hearing the Discipline Committee hears evidence regarding the matter and should the Committee make a finding of professional misconduct or incompetence, it may:

- Reprimand to the Member.
- To further uphold the values of fairness and impartiality, the Discipline Panel will ensure the following when ordering a reprimand:
- The court reporter records the reprimand so that there is no doubt as to the wording;
- The member is required to formally waive their right to appeal the reprimand or allow the appeal period to pass before administering the reprimand; and
- Dialogue with the member will be avoided by Panel members following the reprimand.
- To further uphold the values of fairness and impartiality, the Discipline Panel will ensure the following when ordering a reprimand:
- Reprimand to the Member.

- Direct the Registrar to impose terms, conditions and limitations on the Member’s certificate of registration for a specific or indefinite period of time.
- Direct the Registrar to suspend the Member’s certificate of registration for a specific period of time.
- Direct the Registrar to revoke the Member’s certificate of registration.
- Require the Member to pay a fine of up to $35,000 to the Minister of Finance.
