Respiratory Therapists (RTs) are healthcare professionals who are regulated by the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO) under Regulated Health Professions Act (1991). In the interest of the public, the CRTO sets the standards of professional practice of RTs by establishing the expectations for registration, ongoing continuing competence and professional conduct. As regulated professionals, RTs are accountable to the CRTO to uphold these standards, by providing safe, ethical and competent care to their patient/clients.
