The College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO) acknowledges that our offices are located on the traditional territory of many nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat Peoples. We acknowledge Tkaronto is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit. Tkaronto is a Mohawk word that means “where there are trees in the water”. It highlights the deep connection between the land and its Indigenous peoples. Today, Tkaronto or the region we call Toronto, is home to many diverse Indigenous communities. We honour their rights and history, and commit to fostering understanding and reconciliation in our work.
