The CRTO has seven (7) statutory Committees whose functions are defined under the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 (RHPA). The CRTO may also establish non-statutory committees such as the Finance and Audit Committee.
Committees play a crucial role in advancing the CRTO’s mandate of regulating the respiratory therapy profession in the public interest. They support the work of the Council and help to carry out the core functions of the CRTO. The committees are composed of Council Members and Appointed Professional and Public Committee Members.
Committee Appointments
- The Committee Appointees are selected from applicants who wish to be considered for these positions. The CRTO accepts applications for Non-Council Committee Member positions throughout the year.
- The committee appointments are typically confirmed by the Executive Committee in December; however, there may also be opportunities for mid-year appointments.
- The Professional and/or Public Committee Appointees are appointed for one-year terms based on consideration of their experience, qualifications, and willingness to serve.
- Committee Appointees may be reappointed; there is no maximum length of service.
Committee Member Appointees are compensated for their time and reimbursed for their expenses at a rate comparable to Professional Council Members.
