The University of Ottawa Heart Institute is proud to be hosting the upcoming 9th Annual Ottawa Conference: State of the Art Clinical Approaches to Smoking Cessation, taking place during National Non-Smoking Week on January 20th and 21st, 2017.

The Ottawa Conference has become the national reference point for health professionals seeking the most up-to-date knowledge in clinical smoking cessation. The 2017 event will amass national and international experts sharing the latest concepts in clinical tobacco treatment, program development and smoking cessation research. The conference will feature plenary and breakout sessions, panel discussions, poster displays and networking opportunities. Presentation topics include: the safety and efficacy of first line pharmacotherapies for smokers with or without psychiatric disorders, implementing smoking cessation within addiction agencies, a behavioural economics analysis of withdrawal- and cue-elicited craving for tobacco, standardizing generic packaging of tobacco products and policy regulations, a report on the Canadian End Game Summit, current issues surrounding e-cigarettes, realities of quitting from current and former smokers, practical treatment options for virtually every smoker, examinations of treatment strategies among special populations such as women, indigenous populations, young adults, those of low socioeconomic status and many more!
