Statement of Professional Standing

On occasion, Members (or former Members) may need to provide a Statement of Professional Standing with the CRTO to another regulatory/licensing body. For example, a current Member may be asked to provide the Statement of Professional Standing if they are applying to be registered in another jurisdiction. Other organizations (e.g., employers) can confirm if a person is registered with the CRTO using the CRTO Public Register. The Register includes information about Members’ registration status, discipline history (if any) and employment information.

The CRTO’s Statement of Professional Standing includes the registration information that is available on the Public Register as well as the following 1:

  1. Any unfulfilled obligations to the CRTO (e.g., outstanding fees, quality assurance program/continuing competence and currency requirements)
  2. Any previous terms, restrictions, conditions, or limitations (TCLs) that were imposed on the Member’s certificate of registration [except for the standard TCLs that apply to Graduate, Inactive or Emergency Certificates of Registration]
  3. If the Member is currently or has previously been the subject of a formal complaint, report, investigation, discipline, and/or fitness to practice/capacity inquiry
  4. Any other information related to an event, circumstance, condition, or matter that may be relevant to the Member’s competence, conduct, professionalism or physical/mental capacity that might impede their ability to function safely and ethically as a Respiratory Therapist.
